Very central in the city centre near the station and bus routes
Room I was in was quite small. The bar was dark and depressing. There never seemed to be anyone on the reception desk, never seen anyone on the concierge desk
hotel situated right in centre of edinburgh , ideal location
room facing street was quite noisey
Excellent location in city centre, adjacent to Shopping Centre. Receptionist was very friendly and efficient, room on 5th floor overlooked the street but high enough up for noise not to be a problem. Still my favourite hotel in the area.
Not the fault of the hotel, but my taxi driver said he could not actually get to the hotel without a long detour because of the tram works that are devastating this once beautiful city. What a shambles!
My stay at the King James was just perfect. Travelled to Edinburgh by train with my sister Jen and the hotel is just a few minutes walk from Waverley Station. We were upgraded to a bigger room - very spacious and comfort we stayed for 2 nights, the breakfast was very good with lots of choice. Also hotel had easy access to the shopping shopping centre next door. We will definitely stay there again.
hotel was very nice and wood go back staff very good 2
overpriced. breakfast not included. internet connection very expensive. Found hair in the bathroom as soon as we arrived. Obsolete bathroom taps.
Value for money at a good quality hotel
excellent location, very friendly staff, clean and comfy
We were very disappointed to arrive at the hotel at 11pm to be advised that there was no room for us and we had to wait for a taxi to take us to another hotel for the night. We waited 20 minutes and we offered no complimentary drink or real explanation. The man on the desk did not seem to care. Although when we returned the next day, we were offered complimentary breakfast it did not allow for the fact that we had to relocate which ate into our day. Even then we could not register as the computers were down. We had to attend reception a total of 3 times before we could register. The most unacceptable thing was that I had booked and paid at least 2 months in advance. The hotel must have known it was overbooked but did not tell us at any time despite having had the benefit of full payment in advance.
Location right in the centre of Edinburgh & a reasonable price.
Staff were friendly and polite, made to feel very welcome, great location under ten minutes from eagerly station :-)
Noise from street on room, we were on fifth floor and thought window had been left open as could here all traffic and huddle out side, indeed not, just single glazing, that let us hear everything.
Good location for shopping，go to the Edinburgh Castle，Royal Mail， and near the rail station。
The price was high and not include breakfast.
The location was excellent for most things...Staff friendly.....Food and drinks extortionately overpriced and sandwiches poor quality......Long time to answer phone when trying to contact hotel...
the location and the cleanliness. I booked two double rooms, (My wife and I and one for my elderly mother)
Excellent staff. Good breakfast. Superb location
Very noisy from from the street, windows letting all sound/noise in! Sleepless nights! The same applies for noise from other rooms. Bathroom having a very small hand basin - not good enough! Tv- picture quality very poor. Have not seen such a bad picture since the television begun. Absolutely not acceptable
Poor quality food in adjoining hotel (lunch)
